Growing up, many people wanted to get the magic mirror from Snow White that would sing praises to the Evil Queen. With so many technological advancements you’d think that someone would have come up with it by now. While we are still waiting on the fantasy looking glass, French electronics company Withings has taken a cue from the magic mirror to create its Omnia smart mirror. It does not stroke your vanity but monitors your health.
Unveiled at CES 2025, Withings’ Omnia is a smart mirror concept that reflects your health data, offers feedback from an AI voice assistant, and arranges for a telehealth consultation with a doctor. Like we would want our mirror to point out the weight gain, especially after the holidays. Anyhow, Omnia smart mirror shows your vitals as you check your reflection. We suppose it does work in our favor…to an extent.
Omnia is an L-shaped contraption, with a full-height mirror and a base to measure weight and metabolic health. Your health metrics are reflected on the screen, which includes overnight heart rate, resting heart rate, blood pressure, vascular age, and so on. The smart mirror has 60 different health and fitness parameters, all presented to you on the mirror screen.
Withings Founder and CEO, Eric Careel says, “OMNIA illustrates a monumental step forward in health technology, embodying the power of interconnected health data to transform personal health.”
The built-in AI voice assistant will provide real-time feedback, answer questions, and potentially offer pep talks to motivate you to work better on your health. Withings indicate that the mirror could send your data to doctors for review as well.
The acquired data will also monitor your weight, muscle-to-fat ratio, water mass, bone mass, and amount of visceral fat. You can keep track of sleep quality, lung capacity, and nutrition metrics via this mirror for an overview of your health.
There is a catch, however, as you need to be using other health tech from the company for this mirror to work for you. The Omnia mirror concept is aimed to lead an ecosystem with multi-source data collection. It will bring together its own data with information gathered from Withings’ slew of connected health devices, such as its smartwatches and sleep trackers, to map out a holistic view of your vital indicators. Therefore, you will need Withings’ range of gadgets to benefit from this magic mirror, so to speak.
Omnia isn’t a real product yet. According to the company, Omnia is currently in development. There is no timeline for the mass production or price of the smart mirror. So you might have to wait to get your hands on Omnia if it ever materializes. The mirror with its multi-source approach is being demonstrated as a prototype at CES 2025.
