We’ve seen plenty of DIY smart mirror tutorials on the internet lately, but Germany-based company Dirror has actually brought a ready-made digital mirror on the market. It is called the Dirror, a portmanteau of ‘digital and mirror’. The Windows 10-powered digital mirror includes most features that are found on a smartphone – including calendar, weather update, and reminder notes. This means it will always keep you updated while you dress up for work every morning.
The idea behind the creation of this smart mirror is to provide users an easier way to access advanced features. The digital mirror supports Cortana, smart home technologies like Sonos, and also has full touch capability along with built-in speakers. You can even download the number of apps in the device with the Windows Store.
Dirror digital mirror comes in three different configurations with a starting price of €970 (approx. US $1,000). The price is similar to what you would pay for a high-end laptop. This means this smart mirror is also loaded with various high-tech specifications. The base model Dirror S (small) has a 10.1-inch display with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The Intel Atom x5-Z8300 processor powers the digital mirror and packs 32GB of storage along with 2GB of RAM inside. It also ships with 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.
Dirror M (medium) mirror boasts a 23-inch display and also features the more powerful Atom x7-Z8700 processor, along with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. This model costs €1870 or €1970 depending on your choice of frame. Finally, the larger variant Dirror L comes with all top-of-the-line specs, including a 27-inch full HD display. But to get your hands on this one, you need to pay a hefty price as well i.e. €2480.
For now, these models ship only to Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Visit the company’s website for purchasing any of these digital mirror models.
