Weber turned CES into a grilling exhibition after they showcased the Smart Grilling Hub and SmokeFire pellet grills in 2020. Since then, Weber has added smart features to a few gas grill models, and it will be introducing two more models to the Connect lineup at CES 2024 in Las Vegas.
The smart Searwood pellet grill will take the position of the SmokeFire. In addition to performing high-heat searing and low-and-slow smoking, as most pellet grills do, this type is meant to be operated with the lid open. When you need to keep the lid up, you can activate the Searwood’s specialized mode. You can also adjust the heat level from 1 to 10 instead of the grill’s overall temperature. According to the company, 7 will be appropriate for bacon, a 10 might be used to sear a steak to perfection and a 2 value will be good for pancakes.
In addition to providing greater grill temperature readings, the display of Searwood pellet grill also provides cook time and food probe temperatures on one panel. Pellet levels are also shown on the bigger Searwood 600 XL, allowing you to know when to restock the hopper. With a temperature range of 180 to 600 degrees Fahrenheit, Searwood can be used for a variety of dishes including high-heat seared foods and slow-smoked brisket.
Weber decided to employ the same cast aluminum construction for the Searwood that’s used in the gas grill line-up, as part of the new design strategy. Not only does that improve weatherproofing, but it also aids in more uniform heat distribution. This pellet grill also has Weber’s Pull and Clean drip pan mechanism, which simplifies the cleanup of ash and grease.
Weber enhanced their premium Summit gas grills with numerous linked smart capabilities. Previously customers had to purchase a Genesis model to have access to built-in Weber Connect’s step-by-step instructions and remote monitoring while cooking with gas. The company has significantly increased the Summit’s smart features. Now you can control the grill’s temperature, choose between direct and indirect cooking, monitor quick start and preheating and more using your phone or the grill’s huge, full-color touchscreen display.

The display will indicate where to place your food to get the right results for your chosen cooking style. To turn on the grill, you must come close to it and tap once to select your preferred temperature.
The capability of SmartControl technology to regulate gas flow to certain burners is another feature. The core of SmartControl is an integrated electronic gas valve system that continuously senses the presence of flames in the broiler and on the main burners.
The prices of two models Searwood 600 and Searwood 600 XL will be $899 and $1,199, respectively. Compared to the company’s current second-generation SmokeFire models, both of these are less expensive.
