Elizabeth from Ontario, Canada, decided to join the fun of living life on wheels post-COVID. She was laid off by her company in 2020. At that time, she lived in a 1000-square-foot apartment, and during the quarantine, she realized that she did not need so much space to live. She later joined her sister for a couple of daytrips in an RV which made her realize that she needed to enjoy freedom while living. She had enough time to research and watch videos about van life and was fascinated by the liberty of the downsized lifestyle.
In 2022, Elizabeth purchased a retired mini-bus on Facebook Marketplace, a 2009 Chevy Express 4500, and started building her own living space inside it. As she had a dog and a cat, she had to consider their comfort too. So she finally created Wanda Skoolie which became her tiny house on wheels with two of her furry friends.
The school bus converted for living provided the lady a chance to travel and explore the world while allowing her to work remotely as a travel consultant for the same firm where she used to work before.
The Wanda Skoolie is painted in a light grey color from the outside which Elizabeth likes to call ‘Voyage’. Wanda measures 24 feet long and nine feet wide. It provides enough space to live for Elizabeth and her pet companions. The skoolie became an inspiration for her to give up belongings that she deemed unnecessary. For some of her cherished possessions, she has rented a storage facility.

The interiors of the Wanda Skoolie look spacious even though it is a house built inside a mini-bus. There is very little construction so it does not feel claustrophobic. The loveseat converts to a bed and allows natural light to come inside without any hindrance. There is kitchen space with ample storage sufficing for the requirements of a single person. As Elizabeth likes to paint, she has decorated Wanda with her artwork. She has given a homely touch to the interiors through carpets and rugs.
