Smart locks are a safer and more convenient way to gain access to your home. This convenience falls flat on its head with issues in connectivity, battery dying out, or when you have forgotten the password. This is exactly why a fingerprint reader on the smart lock makes it more appropriate to unlock and gain fast access. Smart lock manufacturer U-tec has taken the issues at hand and addressed it with the new Ultraloq Bolt Fingerprint Matter (Thread).
This world’s first deadbolt lock with fingerprint reader and Matter-over-Thread compatibility will be unveiled at CES 2024 in Las Vegas next week. The U-tec new Ultraloq Bolt Fingerprint Matter should facilitate access through the door with convenience of your fingerprint scan, while the low-power mesh network support will help increase battery life and ensure secure, uninterrupted connectivity.
The Ultraloq Bolt Fingerprint Matter-over-Thread deadbolt lock is priced at $299 with launch slated for the end of March 2024. According to the available information, the deadbolt lock does not support NFC or Wi-Fi, instead, as informed, it uses the low-power mesh network protocol that will – through Matter – allow it to work effortlessly with Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and more.
U-tec may have the first fingerprint plus Matter-over-Thread supported lock scheduled for launch at CES. But it is not the first company to release Matter Thread compatible lock: There have been iterations from some manufacturers but none with a fingerprint sensor. While the fingerprint reader is a standout aspect of the new Ultraloq Bolt, U-tec will also deliver it in two different variants: with Wi-Fi and fingerprint, and without a fingerprint reader.
The Wi-Fi-enabled version, the Ultraloq Bolt (Wi-Fi) will feature a fingerprint reader and work seamlessly with Apple Home. Expected to launch in January 2024, the lock will retail for $249. For the same cost, U-tec will also introduce another variant, Ultraloq Bolt NFC (WI-Fi) without a fingerprint reader, which will support Apple Home Key, making it the company’s first Apple Home Key smart lock.
