TOPOS, a thought-provoking furniture collection, echoes the material’s efficient use through its encapsulating design and make. The collection is born out of a collaboration between European outdoor furniture manufacturers – iSiMAR and Zaha Hadid Architects, London.
Drawing its design out of Mediterranean roots and landscapes, the series aims to capture the joyful essence of outdoor living and convert it into memoirs and life experiences. Showcased at Salone Del Mobile, 2024, the furniture series is making news for its unusual design and layout.
Balancing the ergonomic structure and ingenious use of material, the TOPOS chair and sunlounger offer comfort and resilience. TOPOS represents the Greek word for place as the collection forges to form a close connection between any destination and its memories.
Created out of a combination of natural material and industrial expertise, the series comprises a chair and lounger assembled through industrial designing, making way through an efficient architectural process. The airy structure presents visual lightness in creating modern functional spaces for both personal and professional use. The furniture pieces rest on curved and angled bases that bring stability.

Zaha’s commitment to establishing synchronicity with its surroundings is showcased in its work. Crafted in locally supplied, recycled, and galvanized steel enhancing longevity and durability, the fluid and contour lines in the collection pieces are loosely informed by changes in gradient geographical concepts depicting landscapes of valleys and hills. Fostering a sustainable and eco-friendly approach, the steel pieces of TOPOS chair and sunlounger can be recovered and repurposed at the end of their shelf life for new use.
