Some people are still clinging to the remnants of summer, while some are already set for fall activities, especially Halloween. While scouring the online and in-location stores for fresh and new Halloween decorations is something we all do, making décor items by recycling everyday items will keep your holiday celebrations budget-friendly and lower your waste as well. This Hip2Save content creator on Instagram is one of those Halloween enthusiasts and crafted Jack-o’-lanterns from old Tide pod containers.
She showed her fellow Instagram users how to reuse already available materials for this DIY Halloween craft. She advised them not to throw away empty Tide pods and reuse them to create easy and adorable Jack-o’-lanterns using less than five materials, including the containers.
The content creator first takes the plastic containers and soaks them in hot water for the tags and labels to come off. Once the tags are properly removed, she takes one of the containers and draws a Jack-o’-lantern with a sharpie on it. You can use any sharpie, marker, or even glue-backed adhesive vinyl as it is ideal for smooth surfaces and gives more character to the lanterns.
The next step includes inserting battery-operated lights inside the containers for a glowing effect. The light shines through the container and casts a spooky shadow wherever you display the lanterns. This DIY is lovely and environmentally friendly, ideal for craft and DIY lovers.
While this does seem like a good idea to utilize old and used things to create decoration items, some people on the internet are divided on this being a smart hack as the Tide pod containers cost more than a regular pumpkin container. Well, regardless the DIY tide pod Jack-o’-lanterns have gone viral with many people thinking of replicating the results. Let us know your thoughts on this Halloween craft.
