Today we live in a world of portability and constant change and therefore, we can actually curtail our lives in the form of a slim laptop. But, on the other hand we need to fill spaces around us with contemporary furniture that fits our needs. Keeping today’s modern and flexible lifestyle in mind, German design duo StudioMok has designed thesystem 248 that is a modular storage system. This is a flexible yet stylish furniture unit that adapts to any kind of room dimensions and decor as well.
The System 248 can also be called an advanced version of traditional shelving unit. Its designers have intelligently made use of magnetic studs. The magnetic furniture system includes 8 uniformly sized wooden rectangular boxes which can be combined in numerous configurations. The visible embedded magnets hold the boxes together very strongly. You can re-arrange them in infinite constellations whether upwards, sideways, stacked, or simply standing alone. Therefore, you can have an instant shelving unit that fits your taste as well as requirements without actually using a nail and hammer.
Each white colored module of the System 248 is made up of melamine coated plywood with embedded silver magnets on the surface. Each unit measures 40 cm in length, 27 cm height and 31 cm width and weighs 3.3 kgs. The magnets can also hold the metallic accessories including the height-adjustable feet, a bookend and a light.
