If you’re tired of boring cafes and want to experience something new, Q Caffe in Cluj offers you out-of-this-world interior, unlike any other cafe in the entire globe. Situated in Strada Petru Maior nr. 13 in Cluj, Romania, this cafe has been designed in collaboration with 6th Sense Interiors and a bunch of first-grade artists to inculcate steampunk & dark-fantasy influences.
The interior of this unique cafe depicts man’s social journey, which is illustrated through different perspectives, as well as the complexity of the oneiric. Even minute details have been well thought of before constructing this gorgeous ensemble of metaphors. The three rooms of this cafe are three big chapters, revealing tales of people. The mythological characters, and how they portray each story is quite surprising to the viewers.
The first room boasts Icarus’s figure, a mythological character who has to pay the ultimate price to get free. This character is sculpted on the front side of the bar and symbolizes man’s aspiration towards freedom. Above it, you can see the noise of daily life that’s illustrated by a multitude of sculpted hands and tongues.
Apart from this figure on the wall, furniture in the cafe also features various interesting characters. You can see man’s concern of decrypting life and humanity on the images found on the tables. The Divine Comedy or reconstitutions of Leonardo Da Vinci’s sketches are also present in its interior.
The second chamber depicts the Human Chain, a disturbingly beautiful mural sculpture, symbolizing the loss of individuality and humanity. To illustrate this, artists have designed faceless silhouettes that appear to be lost in the whirl of life finding existence between their senses and humanity. It shows human struggle to escape from the grasp of this tornado.
Like in Icarus’s story, there is a hope in this tale to maintain the fragile inward equilibrium, which is illustrated by the hot air balloon in the center of the room. This represents a transcendental means of transportation that’s taking its passengers towards a better world of liberation.
The third room has the “third story” that speaks about transformations in a man’s life. There is a suitcase in the center of the decor to symbolize our immaterial baggage which is often filled with perceptions, experiences, and ideas about art, love or consumerism. It shows how the contemporary social “baggage” actually transforms an individual into the irrational, decaying world’s prey.

We all are tempted towards one or the other traps of life and often find it hard to get out of those shackles we’ve built for ourselves. This image is built in form of a puppeteer’s “inhuman” figure of metallic, steampunk octopus hanging by the ceiling. The tentacles of the octopus are ready to grab you in a fraction of a second and take away your freedom and individuality.
All the three chapters are even suggested through the four symbolic characters, which makes the Q Caffe universe: the machine man, the man with no scruples, the chaotic man, and the praying man. It will indeed be a wonderful experience to spend some time in this cafe and think about where our lives are actually heading.
This is one of the unique places that we’ve seen so far. Here you can not only grab a few drinks with your friends but also have a look at the actual purpose of life.
This is not the first time 6th Sense Interiors has come up with such out-worldly design. We have seen more from them before, and by looking at their work, we can say that they know how to make fiction and reality walk hand-in-hand.
For now, have a look at the gorgeous interior of Q Caffe in Cluj.
