The world’s largest home design exhibition – Salone del Mobile 2013 is just around the corners (9th – 15th April) with its plethora of upcoming furniture products. And, in this galaxy of innovative conceptions, we have come across some Italian designed wooden chairs with their own brand of styling. Bringing chicness back into the vogue, these Tonon chair designs fuse the natural warmth of wood with the modernistic technology of polyurethane. Moreover, the minimalism is quite evident from the white color scheme of the seat, supported by the classy timber legs spread at subtle angles.
The visual, as well as the functional element of these chairs, are defined by the apparent contrast of the ancient and new. Wood is known as an ancient building materiel, whereas the application of polyurethane (basically a polymer) is the fruit of contemporary science. These two components coalesce to give shape to the expressive styles of the Tonon chairs; which is achieved in spite of the minimal essence. In this regard, the chairs would be available in five models (as limited editions), all conceived by the collaborative effort of Polish designer Mac Stopa and German designers Maly Hoffmann Kahleyss and Martin Ballendat.
