Herman Miller has unveiled the iconic Rohde Collection, which was first introduced by Gilbert Rohde, the company’s first design director. After over 80 years, Rohde’s historic designs Rohde Easy Chair and Rohde Paldao Table have been brought back with a zest to celebrate the studio’ s modern ideologies and legacies.
Rohde’s designs were heavily inspired by the abstract art movement in the 1940’s, especially the biomorphism, where a piece of furniture is influenced by natural world through shape and form. Herman Miller has epitomized the freeform and curvaceous contours of Rohde’s work in the relaunched collection infused with a modern sensibilities.
First in the collection is the classic Rohde Easy Chair. It has a tufted seat and backrest. Featuring curvaceous, biomorphic, and organic curves, the Easy chair is an epitome of its name that gives a seamless and relaxing sitting experience to the user.
Furthermore, its enveloping seat and rounded backrest hug the user for an ultimate comfort. It is available in a leather and plush fabric upholstery. The tapered wooden legs of the chair are available in solid oak and walnut. The legs provide the chair with right balance and proportion, and give off an illusion of them being anthropomorphized. With its refined aesthetic and functionality, the chair is as relevant as it was 80 years ago.

The legs are finished in three wood veneer finishes. They are available in different heights and shapes, and can be used as a coffee table or as a side table.
The Rohde Collection is adept in embracing office and domestic settings. It is timeless, modern, and infused with the nostalgia.
