During a conversation with Homecrux, Dávid Ráday, designer and co-founder of Hello Wood teased a beautiful Hello Wood cabin getaway resort that was in his future plans. A couple of years later, the Budapest-based design studio has introduced six boulder-shaped cabins at Csóromfölde near Kapolcs, a rural area in Hungary.
Dubbed ‘Rock Cabins’, each dwelling accommodates two people who can enjoy the scenic beauty and the lush greenery of the region. This uniquely shaped cabin resort serves as an ultimate romantic getaway where visitors can make the most of the facilities and immerse in nature.
I call it unique because unlike any other cabin resort it features a unique design inspired by treehouses and the shape of boulders. Hello Wood studio has completed the project in collaboration with the Hungarian rental network, Treehouses.
Together, they created six cabins that resemble the shape and color of natural rocks. The main motive behind the project was to create something that blends in with nature completely and what’s better than a rock to suffice that purpose.
Each cabin has cozy living space elevated from the ground and features a living room and a bedroom. The roof and walls are made of timber cladding for a charming look. With timber cladding on exterior, the cabin structure can be heated and cooled with minimum energy consumption. The cabin does not include any windows, doors, or staircases rather it opens up into terrace and entrance only.
The interior space includes fully-functional kitchen appliances, a built-in wardrobe, and a dining table. Another major highlight of these cabins is the spacious covered terrace that features a large hot tub. As per Hello Wood, these cabins are prefabricated to minimize on-site work and can even be moved anywhere else.

Apart from the standout architecture, these modern treehouse cabins create employment within the region. Csóromfölde once hosted multiple architectural education programs and festivals but was left abandoned for the rest of the year.
With the introduction of the Rock Cabins by Hello Wood, the locals would benefit a lot. The region could turn out into a tourist hotspot, thus the project is boosting the local economy and creating more job opportunities for the people.
