California-based O2 Treehouse is well known for its luxurious living structures on trees, including the uniquely glazed Pinecone treehouse. The latest creation from the maker Rivendllë continues its legacy of merging architecture with nature. Inspired by the name and architecture of Rivendell, the Elvish otherworld from Tolkien’s fictional world of Middle-earth, this treehouse features curved roof rafters and structural framing for a mythical look. Furthermore, the elevated design provides an over-the-top view, which is a big need for modern families.
The company has prefabricated the Rivendllë treehouse at its workshop and later transported to the site. There are two separate units mounted on a single tree using L-shaped supports. This 100-square-foot treehouse is accessed via butterfly stairs that look quite thrilling to climb.
The exterior design is distinguished with large stained glass windows that give it the look of a church or well, that of the realm of the ethereal Elves. Another standout feature is the monolithic floor made without joists and plywood.
The builder have simply glued and screwed 2×4’s together into a massive flooring with a clean finish. Looks like much time went into sanding the finished floor, which makes the bottom of the structure look as beautiful as the rest of the structure.

When you move up to the second unit, it has a bunk beds on one side and a door leading to a small deck to take full advantage of outdoors. Furthermore, there are shatterproof polycarbonate windows with protective laser cut steel mullions on both sides to maximize outdoors views from inside.
The Rivendllë treehouse is designed keeping in mind the needs of the entire family. There are additional play features like tree nets, a tree-to-tree catwalk, and climbing holds for added fun.
Custom-built by O2 Treehouse, these unique structures on trees make for a cool Airbnb rental or a dreamy backyard retreat. It would be the perfect hangout place for a Tolkien fan as well.
