According to the US Fire Administration, households should have interconnected smoke alarms – in all rooms – for additional safety and early warning. To ensure customers have high-end smoke alarms at home so they can act fast in case of an emergency; Ring – an Amazon-owned smart home security brand has associated with Kidde, a leader in fire safety product manufacturing, to create a connected smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm that should keep the owners informed at all times.
Unveiled at CES 2025, the collaborative Kidde smoke and carbon monoxide alarms will arrive sometime in April this year. The two models will be integrated with Ring home security features so they can deliver push notifications on your Ring mobile app when the alarms are triggered.
Ring technology and app integrated in Kidde smoke alarms promise to be a potent combination, which would retail between $55 to $75. The Ring x Kidde Smart Smoke Alarm is priced at $54.97, whereas the Smart Smoke and CO Alarm will cost $74.97. As mentioned, both the detectors will start shipping in April.
The smoke and the combination smoke + CO alarm are meant to connect directly to the home’s Wi-Fi network, eliminating the need for any sort of hub or an existing Ring alarm. The detectors feature a seven-day advance battery-life notification to ensure your alarm system never runs out of power abruptly and is vigilant at all times when you’re away from the house.
However, it does work the other way: For instance, if you have a Kidde smoke alarm at home, by connecting it to one of the two smart smoke alarms, you can allow the existing compatible alarm to send push notifications to the Ring app as well.
To entail an around-the-clock professional monitoring of the smoke alarms; Ring is introducing a smoke and CO monitoring service for a $5 monthly subscription. This will provide consistent monitoring by a professional who can directly inform emergency services in case of an emergency. This is an optional service, you will not require a Ring Home subscription.
