Kristopher Kalkowski, an attorney in Las Vegas, Nevada, and a houseplant lover, understands the challenges many plant parents face regarding watering: some do not water enough while others drown the plants. To help people take care of their plants, Kalkowski designed the Drain Drawer Pot. This planter is made from recycled materials and is recyclable at the end of its life, making it sustainable. But that is not what makes this pot unique. It is the ingenious design and thought behind it that counts above all.
Unlike other pots, the Drain Drawer Pot has a removable drawer at its bottom that collects the excess water, which can be removed once your plant has soaked what it requires. Moreover, it has a separate tube to deliver water directly to the roots. It has a removable side-spout for bottom watering that helps the water nourish your roots while the excessive water gets into the drawer, saving your plant from drowning and getting root rot.
The Drain Drawer Pot has an expanded drainage drawer capacity that stores the excessive water and doesn’t require moving plants from one place to another. It resolves the issue of spilling water outside the planter while watering plants. Additionally, the closed drawer keeps the excessive water hidden to avoid gnats and flies. Now you can prevent your pets from drinking water that contains pesticides or chemical fertilizers.
The pot is UV-resistant and is built with sustainable materials. It is upcycled from excess factory material to ensure it stays out of landfills. Made from drop-proof high-density polyethylene (HDPE) that lasts for decades, the pot’s manufacturing process doesn’t contain bisphenol A, an industrial chemical associated with endocrine disorders, cancerous contaminants, cardiovascular disease, and other health issues.

The planter has curved exterior edges and a sloped bottom, measuring six inches high and six inches wide. It is available in seven vibrant colors such as sage green, sand, terracotta, pink, white, blue, and black.
You can keep any type of plant in the pot including cactus, succulents, and kitchen herbs like basil. The Drain Drawer Pot is currently up for a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter where early birds can get two planters for $33.
