CES is here for another year, bringing forth new innovations and product launches. There will surely be many new products, however, we would like to take a look at an innovative household product named puripot airLamp by a Korean startup. It is a unique table lamp featuring blue light PCO technology to improve the living environment by purifying air inside homes.
The puripot airLamp makes use of two innovative technologies – a polyester-based non-woven fabric filter treated with meta-doped TiO2 photocatalyst, and a light-based titanium dioxide photocatalyst technology, together in order to remove harmful VOCs, viruses, bacteria and fine dust particles.
Air is first cleaned through the transition meta-doped titanium dioxide non-photocatalyst filter. According to the company, the filter has more than 50-percent better dust removal efficiency than the general HEPA filters. Its performance is not deteriorated even after long hour use; however, periodic washing is needed to remove the accumulated dust. According to the company, the filter is long-lasting and will not need replacement.

The dust-removed air is cleaned for the second time in a titanium dioxide photocatalyst responsive to 460nm visible light. It produces instantaneously hyperactive hydroxyl radicals that break down VOCs destroying the molecular bonds and enhance the air cleaning efficiency.
The lamp not only lights up space but also removes dust particles, as well as deodorizes and sterilizes the air, creating a healthy environment inside a home. The pricing and release date is not announced yet however, a table lamp that also purifies air should be a welcoming addition in any home.
The puripot airLamp is the winner of the CES Innovation Award 2020 in the smart home category. There are more models of the lamp available – one for personal use and another for purifying the air inside a car.
