The In Vitro outdoor lighting collection designed by Philippe Starck in 2020 for Flos has been updated with a new product. The all-new In Vitro Unplugged reinvents the concept of the nomadic lantern in a portable version.
In Vitro Unplugged as the name suggests requires no plugs or wiring, ensuring total freedom of movement. It is a rechargeable lamp that can be carried easily thanks to its lightweight body and colored silicone handle.
The glowing glass lantern appears empty from the inside but magically appears to illuminate on its own. The light emitted from the lamp is soft, diffused, and free of strong contrasts thanks to the Edge lighting technology, in which the point-like LEDs are hidden by an opalescent diffuser.
The In Vitro Unplugged is a bright but silent companion for relaxing evenings. It is an elegant feature that will add a touch of beauty to your home during the day.

“There is a paradox, a mystery in In Vitro Unplugged, something magical. It is empty inside and yet light – one of the most powerful sources of energy – is born from this nothingness. It is the ultimate timeless combination of discreet elegance with very high-technology,” Philip Starck explains.
The In Vitro Unplugged lamp is available in seven textured finishes to match different home décor settings. It also comes in wall-mounted, Bollard, and Suspended versions. The lamp is exhibited at the Milan Design Week 2021.
