Italy-based car design firm Pininfarina has a long history of collaborating with Ferrari and is revered for producing high-quality products, luxury cars infused with quality craftsmanship, marrying design with innovation since 1930. This time, the company rendered fans speechless with its debut piece of collectible furniture Oksys chaise lounge, designed by Marco Beccucci of Pininfarina. It is a limited-edition furniture piece that merges the company’s automotive design legacy with an innovative and luxurious furniture.
Forming an enthusiastic theatric of creativity and aesthetic, the chaise lounge is unprecedented with its smooth surface, and refined lines that pay homage to a typical car design by the company while stressing on the ergonomics. The lower body appears to be a rough and rugged crystal-like rock making the furniture exhibiting an elemental quality, while giving a sturdy foundation.
Beautifully crafted in a single aluminum casting and steel at the in-house workshops in Cambiano (Turin), the chaise lounge exhibits a tangible contrast between two textures and shapes. When two diverse elements are brought together cohesively, they form an ‘oxymoronic’ object as the company defines it, “Oksýs is an oxymoronic object: it is the representation of how, in Pininfarina’s vision, artificial and natural, man and nature, are not opposing elements but, rather, complementary and part of the same logic.”
Ideating on the company’s philosophy of combining design with innovation, the Oksys chaise lounge brings about a harmonious juxtaposition of both in this visually striking foreplay of form and function.

Finding beauty in the contrast, the Oksys is attractive and warding, dynamic and static at the same time. With its burnished surface, it becomes a functional and comfortable furniture that invites for a restful sitting. The roughly hewn lower structure fills any setting with an audacious vibe, making it a statement piece and an eye-grabbing object for the viewers to delight in.
Imbued with modern sensibility and the Pininfarina’s revolutionary history of crafting unique collectible items, the chaise lounge seems fitted for a contemporary industrial settings. Presented during the Milan Design Week at the Rossana Orlandi Gallery, the Oksys chaise lounge is a limited edition product and will be made in three pieces, exclusively available at the Rossana Orlandi Gallery.
