Evan Li and Rick Qiu, the founders of Oasa, possess an intensive knowledge of robotics. With their passion and innovative approach, they created the Oasa R1 robotic lawn mower that boasts advanced technology and is claimed to be the world’s first robotic reel mower. Well, this is a constantly evolving market and we have featured many robotic lawnmowers in the past but Oasa R1 certainly impresses with its specifications and features.
The most interesting feature of the Oasa R1 robotic lawn mower is that it employs 3D auto-mapping with the help of advanced LiDAR-Vision Perception. Therefore, it requires minimal manual intervention as it can analyze the outdoor environment and easily distinguish between grass, obstacles, and even edges. This feat is possible due to Visual-Inertial Odometry (VIO) which converts visual data from cameras and inertial data from sensors into a three-dimensional blueprint of your lawn. The 3D map lets the Oasa R1 pinpoint its location on the map with the help of SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping). In layman’s terms, this robotic marvel can understand your lawn and avoid the obstacles in its path, be it fixed or moving.
You can call Oasa R1 a smart lawn mower and that won’t be an exaggeration. Also, its avant-garde features are backed by state-of-the-art design. It has a 13-inch ultra-wide cutting path complemented by patented self-sharpening reel blades that have been used in robotic mowers for the first time. This blade cuts grass evenly to perfection like a scissor and leaves no fraying. With it, homeowners can achieve a golf course-style finish for their lawns.
The Oasa R1 has a cutting height of 20mm to 101mm and a final grass height of 19mm to 76mm. It also offers a best-in-class blade-to-body ratio that gets within 30mm of fences to enable a clean cut-to-edge finish. If you have a pool or pavement on your lawn, the robotic reel mower intelligently positions itself to eliminate unsightly gaps giving a neat manicured look.
The smart mowing is bundled with a smart charging option and once the battery lowers to 10%, R1 heads to its charging station which is also the case if it detects rain or completes its task. If the work is still pending, for instance, if there is a large lawn surface, this smart lawnmower continues its duties post charging from where it left off. As the charging is completely wireless the users get a hassle-free experience.
There are some other noteworthy features of Oasa R1. It has an IPX6 waterproof rating, front-wheel drive with high-powered motors to handle stability on slopes up to 45%, and an intuitive emergency stop handle. This outdoor robotics marvel is supported by the Oasa R1 app which has a user-friendly and minimalistic interface. It is compatible with smart home systems like Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Home. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play. The app allows users to opt for smart mowing, auto-resharpening, multi-zone management, mowing patterns, mowing schedules, and customized cutting height. What more? It comes with an anti-theft system too.

Weighing around 23 kg, the Oasa R1 robotic lawn mower has a battery capacity of 7800mAh, a runtime of two hours on a single charge and a battery charging time of up to four hours. R1 has been successfully funded on Kickstarter and is offered at a Super Early Bird price tag of $1,200.
The smart lawn mower has been used by an alpha tester named Louie for a month in Texas who commends R1 for its superior cutting performance. Pest and Lawn Ginja has reviewed the reel-mowing robot on his YouTube channel. We are sure with so many smart features, advanced tech and all the hype around it, this lawn mower is going to rule the home grounds soon!
