We are still a couple of weeks away from the commencement of Goodwoof Barkitecture 2023. The fun architectural contest will host a number of firms from Foster + Partners to Coffey Architects, that would exhibit their dog kennels for 2023 at the event. This year’s event is primarily focusing on kennel designs that represent and celebrate the companionship between both species.
Speaking of companionship, Henning Stummel Architects has designed a chair that doubles as pet furniture and brings you and your dog even closer. Dubbed Nomad Juno, the furniture comes as a flat pack piece that can quickly be assembled into a fully-functional chair. The chair features upholstery for you to sit and relax on while offering your dog a cozy nook right behind your back.
“The true joy of having a dog is companionship and this is a piece of furniture that dog and owner can share. It is a derivative, indeed an evolution of a chair that we’ve been making,” Henning Stummel Architects tells Homecrux. The design of Nomad Juno reminds me of Sharing Joy by designer Zhe Gao, which offers a comfortable space for your pooch within the chair.
“We know it’s comfortable and we know it works. The idea is for the dog to have cozy space right behind the warming back of its owner,” states Henning Stummel Architects. The chair features two openings for your pooch. There’s a little entrance on the left of the chair and another on the right of the seat. The dog can pop out under the right arm of the owner to be stroked or it can retreat into its burrow.
