Nest Thermostat E, the compact, cheaper version of its big brother was launched last year in the US. Now the thermostat is coming to Europe too with a slew of changes specially tailored for the European market. The new version comes with a slightly different circular design, 1.76-inch frosted glass display (320 x 320 resolution at 182 ppi) and has a built-in stand. Plus it has all the native features of the Thermostat E launched last year.
The new version is tailored for European heating equipment and can be installed by the user without the need to call any professional. You just have to wire up the Heat Link E to the wire leading from the boiler to the thermostat. The company is providing tools needed for installation and easy to understand, step-by-step guide which helps the cause. Although, if your boiler doesn’t have that wire, you’ll need to call a professional.
The screen displays the current and target temperature, and the dial turns to adjust the temperature manually. Keeping the daily habits of European people in mind, the thermostat has a pre-programmed schedule.
According to Lionel Guicherd-Callin, Nest’s Product Marketing Head in Europe;
We wanted to create a simpler, more affordable smart thermostat for the 85% of people across Europe who aren’t benefiting from the lower bills and smarter heating they can provide. Anyone with a screwdriver can install it in under 60 minutes without the need for an electrician or boiler engineer.
This is a worthy upgrade if you are looking to level-up to a smart heating system. Especially if you don’t want to buy the steep priced Nest 3.0 as Thermostat E has most of the features, offers more flexibility for placement and is priced lot lesser.
Nest Thermostat E is up for pre-order at a price tag of £199 and £259 with professional installation option available.
