Usages of refillable liquid hand wash; shampoo and body wash bottles have become very common over the years. Excessive usage of these containers and disposal of plastic refill pouches has also emerged as a threat to the environment. As it generates tons of plastic waste. Not only this, but repeated usage of the same containers also raises hygiene issues.
As a solution, Nendo, a Japanese design firm has designed a soap dispenser with a replaceable paper carton body that stays clean. It even contributes to plastic waste reduction. To make this, a gable-top paper carton just like those used for packaging milk is used as a dispenser’s replaceable body. The gable top of the carton is turned upside down for use, and the dispenser pump and cap secures the carton from above and below.
The body is designed to have a dispenser pump inserted directly within. The pump is inserted into the carton’s underside to ensure that there is no spilling while refilling. In addition to this, there is also no chance of new soap getting mixed with the old one as the carton is replaced altogether. Due to its gable-top resting at the base, the liquid can be easily used to its last drop.

To prevent it from collapsing, getting soft and moldy in the washroom, the top and bottom covers distribute the pressure of the pump being pressed repeatedly. Its boxlike shape also allows them to be sacked for storage, unlike standard plastic pouches.
Nendo has prepared pumps and replacement containers in two sizes i.e. 200ml and400 ml for liquids and foams. The product is expected to launch in 2022. As per Nendo, the dispenser’s specifications may change upon its launch.
