Almost all the products we use at home end up in landfills at the end of their lifecycle, just because they are not biodegradable. Designer Danielle Trofe has taken it upon herself to create sustainable and socially responsible lighting designs, and this shows in her Mush-Lume. Mush-Lume by Trofe is a lamp shade made from biodegradable material. The Mush-Lume lamp is made from mushroom material, so the lamp shade is grown instead of being manufactured.
The lamp shade is grown using the innovative Ecovative’s patented mushroom technology – a growing process which combines agricultural byproducts with mushroom mycelium. This process helps grow a 100 percent organic, sustainable and biodegradable lamp shade from mushroom material. The Mush-Lamp with wooden and concrete base is slated to hit Kickstrater on 24 February.
