Veterans are always respected and so is Monty, a beautiful family RV that has a battle history of its own. Once used as a military ambulance during the Second Gulf War, the 1997 Land Rover Defender was officially named KZ 39 AA. It took all the bullets and fire and the encounter gave it scars that shine like medals on its exterior. It was retired in 2012, and after a long period of lull, was finally converted into a mobile home.
The Monty vanhome was completely worn out after heavy Iraqi fire and its participation in the battle but then it got a second life when Overland Campers a UK-based conversion shop got possession. It took seven years to restore the vehicle and all its basic functions. Thereafter, Monty got a new avatar as a family RV, customized like most of the vehicles offered by Overland Campers which offers converted campervans for hire in the UK.
The exterior of Monty vanhome still has a touch of classic 90s war ambulance look, but it is a veteran with a purpose. It features a pop-up roof, a side access door, and a retractable side awning. The vehicle retains the scars that are now encased in clear gel along with a rugged outer surface and heavy-duty wheels that are part of every military-grade vehicle.
The interior of Monty vanhome is designed in a way that it can easily accommodate and serve the comfort of a small family. It follows a set layout that most of the mobile homes offered by Overland Campers have. There is a small kitchen space with a burner stove along with a sink to suffice for culinary expeditions. The kitchen space also houses a 12V fridge with a freezer compartment and plenty of under-bench storage considering it is a vanhome.
To the right side of the vehicle is the seating arrangement that doubles as a rock and roll bed when required. The driving front of the vehicle can accommodate three adults and two can sit inside the vanhome part in the back with seatbelts. Thus, officially five people can travel in Monty at a given point in time.

There is toilet and shower space with off-grid capabilities. Two additional sleeping spaces are formed by one bed in the pop-up roof and a smaller cab-over area bed that is ideal for kids if it has to be used as a family mini RV. The interior has got spotlights and strip lights for illumination during nighttime.
Some other integrations of Monty include a reversing camera and smoke alarm. It has a 60-liter steel water tank and 150W solar panel on the roof that powers two 100 amp batteries.
This extraordinary vanhome is offered for sale now at a price of around $44,500. Interested buyers must know that this fighter boy is powered by a 300TDi engine and is studded with an R380 5-speed gearbox. Also, it features a power steering to make your road trip as smooth as it can be. The vehicle when owned by the military covered less than 10,000 km.
