Nicolas Ghesquière and Pharrell Williams, respectively the Creative Directors of the women’s and men’s lines at Louis Vuitton, joined forces to redesign the classic portable bed from the French design house. Originally introduced in the mid-19th century and designed for aristocrats and travelers, the Malle Lit became every traveler’s dream, as it gave them a comfortable sleeping solution anytime, anywhere.
Williams and Ghesquière remodeled it with modern sensibilities. The upgraded version carries the essence of the classic design, including the exterior draped in distressed stripes, paying homage to the antiquated LV canvas of the 1870s. The interior, on the other hand, flaunts striking red and white stripes, enhancing the beauty of the furniture.
Measuring 3 feet long, 2 feet wide, and 2 feet high, the bed trunk exudes a conspicuous vintage charm that blends beautifully with the trunk’s current functionalities. It also features Pharrell Williams’ signature twist, his distinguishing ‘LV Lovers’ tag on the sides of the trunk, adding a personal and fun element to the piece.
