There once was a time when only builders contributed to the tiny house industry. But with the evolution of the movement, the nature of micro-dwelling manufacturers has also changed. Aiming to revolutionize how we see modern home, the Korean brand, LG Electronics, has ventured into compact housing solutions, namely with its innovative LG Smart Cottage.
The LG Smart Cottage is a prefabricated, fully-stocked, and energy-efficient tiny house that is outfitted with the brand’s premium appliances and HVAC systems. Unveiled at IFA 2023 in Berlin, the Smart Cottage wooed visitors with its hi-tech features, a concoction of natural materials, homely touches, and solar-powered capabilities.
The electronics brand partnered with European timber prefab company Dan-Wood to create Smart Cottage in such a way that the technologies cannot be isolated from the home or the other way around. The module components for the LG Smart Cottage are made with low-carbon steel materials produced by South Korean steel company POSCO.
This smart tiny house is designed to envision the future of modern homes and we have to say it is looking good. It is outfitted with 4kW rooftop and terrace solar panels. The interior of the LG tiny house is packed with the company’s stunning appliances.

Its 338 sq. ft. interior packs a cozy living space, a fully functional kitchen, a modern bathroom, and a loft bedroom to accommodate two people. The tiny house comes with numerous built-in kitchen appliances, a QuadWash dishwasher, the WashTower Compact, a water purifier, and the Therma V Monobloc air-to-water heat pump (AWHP) for heating and cooling. All systems are customizable and controllable through LG’s smart home technology, ThinQ connectivity.
The energy-efficient features of the compact dwelling make it a coveted tiny house plan that is ideal for small families or couples to live off-grid. For now, there isn’t much information regarding this paradigm-shifting residential setup, however, it is certain that it will soon see a commercial release.
