Pet parents are some of the most compassionate people on the planet, and they would do anything to keep their fur babies comfortable and happy. We have seen a lady custom build a tiny house for her pet cockatoo; seen DIYers building a hobbit-style dog house and even a Star Trek-themed cat tower. And then there is Taylor Quitara, whose TikTok video of her cat’s mini bedroom – which she built by the way – has won hearts on the internet. This cat mom has inspired many pet parents with her DIY cat mini bedroom complete with a comfy bed and wall portraits of her cat Giuseppe.
But how did it happen? Well, Quitara noticed Giuseppe hanging out in a mysterious nook in the wall of one of the bedrooms in her house. It must have been designed as a storage alcove. There was already a ceiling lamp installed, so Quitara thought to turn it into a private retreat for her feline friend.
A multifaceted artist herself, Quitara knows her way around DIY home décor and quickly got to work. She added a bright red wallpaper with an imaginative pattern with zebras on it. Then she got a toy bed from IKEA, a blue couch doubling as a scratching pad, even a climbing gym, and a gallery wall with Giuseppe’s adorable portrait to make it completely his home.
Quitara shared this DIY cat mini bedroom build on her TikTok handle, winning over the internet and inspiring other pet parents to build something for their fur babies.
Even if you don’t have such a space, you can put something together to show your love for your pet, offering them a hiding space where they can have some privacy. This particularly applies to cats as dogs would rather hog your space than sleep in their own bed.

If Quitara’s lovely build has ignited your creativity too, you can create something similar for your cat or dog. You can get a big wooden crate to make a private haven. Put it on the side, add furnishings, create walls with foam sheets or peel-and-stick tiles, a little bit of art, and fairy lights to make it magical for your furry companion.
The success of this endeavor, however, will depend on the size of your pet. It could very well work for small cat and dog breeds but bigger pets may not like such a cramped space. In that case, you can use some woodworking skills to build a dog bed, a dog house, or a cat tower, or take a cue from this man who built a luxury villa for his dog complete with a pool and spa. There is a myriad of possibilities: it all depends on your skills and how far you’ll go to shower your pet with love and care.

This miniature cat bedroom is pure genius—a purr-fect blend of feline luxury and human creativity! The attention to detail (tiny artwork! a mini bed with bedding!) shows such love for our fur babies. My cat would absolutely claim this as her royal throne.
Pro tip for pet parents: While your kitty naps in their new palace, treat yourself to some TLC with a massage cushion(https://avohug.com/)—because building tiny furniture can be a backache! I use mine after DIY projects to unwind (though my cat usually hijacks it too).
