Standford-based Ben and Hannah Huggins of New British Design collaborated with Louis Middleton, founder of Kudhva campsite hotel, to create the K-Tent. It is a lightweight, off-ground tent that reimagines cozy Kudhva cabins in a take-away version. The tent is designed to adapt to any terrain thanks to its adjustable tripod legs to offer a refined and eco-friendly outdoor experience.

According to the makers, the K-Tent with the adjustable tripod leg system can tackle even the roughest landscapes with ease. Constructed to suit your backyard, poolside, glamping locations, festival stays, or wellness retreats, the tent can host guests with style and comfort and an experience of a lifetime.

The K-Tent has a recycled aluminum framing in a hexagonal shape and is covered in a durable, heat-absorbing British Millerian canvas. It is gently elevated from the ground, resulting in an eco-conscious design with minimal impact on the surroundings. The assembly takes two people to erect the structure in about 30 to 45 minutes.

The K-Tent can be accessed from two sides via non-slip ladders. There is also a hexagram ply platform where guests can enjoy the quiet surroundings and sunsets. Guests walk inside through a heavy-duty zip opening and find a comfy, compact space for two. There are two triangular windows as well to let in some fresh air and natural light.

Kudhva is an architectural hideout in Tintagel, Cornwall that creates off-grid and sustainable accommodations, harnessing solar energy to feed a few electrical appliances for those who seek comfortable ways of living in the wilderness. New British Design beautifully carries forward Kudhva’s vision of architectural wilderness through K-Tent with a low-carbon footprint and greater user-friendliness.

“The challenge to design a take away version of a Kudhva was sparked by a demand for
the original cabins.” Explains architect Ben Huggins to Homecrux.

He further elucidates, “It got us thinking – how could we design something that maintained all the same principles at a fraction of the cost and without the associated legislative headaches brought about by
the planning process.’’

After 3 years of hardcore field testing in multiple landscapes, the tent is finally ready to go with an introductory price of $15,685 (£12,500) including mainland UK shipping & VAT. You can find more about the buying options at Kudhva Kanvas.
