CES is yet to kick off, and the major players in the projector industry have already revealed their best for the 2025 tech bonanza. This began with LG and Samsung introducing their cutting-edge projector lineups for the show, while Epson dropped a bombshell by announcing an all-new laser TV that beams a huge 150-inch picture with 6.2.2 surround sound. Aurzen, a China-based company might not be anywhere near LG or Samsung but that didn’t stop it from attaining the limelight for its flagship tri-fold projector. And who can forget Yaber, a rather underdog in the projector industry, seeking its share in the market dominated by tech heavy-weights?
Whatever the case, CES 2025 is turning out to be fun and intriguing. JMGO, another Chinese brand intends to make it hotter (not literally) by announcing a slew of projectors that boast projection capabilities that can leave even the likes of Epson drooling. Among a series of projectors, JMGO is bringing to CES, what caught my eye is the O2S 4K Ultra Short Throw projector, which the company touts to be the “world’s smallest laser TV”. As per JMGO, the projector measures 12.3 x 11.4 x 5.5 inches. To put that in perspective, it averages the size of a shoe box.
If you see UST projectors around, JMGO’s latest innovation is pretty small. For those, who are not familiar with the catch of small laser TVs, it’s all about the size, that tech companies have been battling for. Laser TVs are just ultra-short throw projectors that instead of bulbs use lasers for image projection. What’s nice about them is that you can place them mere inches from the wall and they can still project the picture onto it. This is the prime reason companies want to make a projector pretty small, so there is no hindrance in the cinematic experience. However, most laser TVs we see around are sizeable units and this is where JMGO stands tall from the rest.
The small size doesn’t imply it’s short on features. O2S Ultra can still project a screen that’s 100 inches in size while being just 5.75 inches away from it. As per the company, this is possible courtesy of MALC 3.0 technology. “This tech allows O2S Ultra to simultaneously deliver high brightness, accurate colors, and consistent contrasts,” states the company. In addition to these features, the UST projector also features 4K resolution and the maximum screen size it can produce is up to 180 inches, which is decent enough for gaming and cinematic viewing.
The O2S Ultra features a 2,500 ISO lumens brightness. While this is something we cannot testify at the time of writing. More can be confirmed once the company reveals it at the show. Other traditional features include Google TV integration, implying apps like Netflix, Max, Hulu, Disney+, and several others are just a few clicks away on the remote. The release date and the price are not confirmed yet, but the company plans to start shipping it globally in Q4 2025.
