We have covered some tiny dwellings from Japan and there’s another addition to that list. Named Isana tiny house, it is one notable creation by the builder Tiny House Japan. It is built on a single-axle trailer and can be towed easily owing to its lightweight and narrow design.
The basic form factor of this tiny dwelling in Japan is inspired by the belly of a whale. The pictures shared on the builder’s website have one image that conveys how structurally strong Isana tiny house is. The skeleton-like basic structure with ribs attached to the baseline provides it with a very unique shape. I think it also looks like a train compartment as the roof is bent in just that manner on both sides.
The entry to the tiny home is from the back side of the trailer with windows on the left and right sides. Made from high-quality cedar wood, this micro-dwelling has a shoe rack on the right side of the entrance door. This goes with the tradition of respect in Japanese homes where they keep the shoes at the door. As per the culture, it shows respect towards the place you are entering. Isana also takes forward this culture and also has a tatami mat in the house.
The floor plan is simple and has two levels. There is a main room, a passage that is designed to function as a kitchen, and a toilet space. The upper level or the loft level has space to sleep three people. There is a removable ladder that can be used to access the upper level from the lower level. There is also a pop-up roof which helps in better ventilation of the Isana tiny house. The interior lighting is warm and complements the wooden architecture.
The kitchen has a countertop, sink, and cooktop with cabinets below. There is sufficient storage in the kitchen for items that one would need for cooking. A big window in the kitchen area can be opened outwards. There are hanging shelves and storage spaces near the kitchen where one can store important stuff needed at the lower level.

Just beautiful work!! I’m a former female, professional baseball player. I’ve played against the very well trained athletes in Japan.
These girls are awesome! This Tiny home is surely the same.
I’m afraid it would get eaten alive from termites in Florida, USA.
If not, ship me one.
