Inspired Overland (IO) is well known for its lightweight carbon-fiber rooftop tents including the TentBox Go, which is touted to be the world’s lightest rooftop tent. The latest Stargazer limited-edition series by the California-based company is also designed to make your outdoor adventures even more interesting. Made from a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum, these one-of-a-kind tents feature a clear acrylic top to let the inhabitants enjoy sky views from inside.
Inspired Overland’s Stargazer Solo is a one-person tent that will ensure full comfort and connection to nature. It weighs around 80 lbs (about 36 kg) and sports a sleek 6-inch profile.
There is also a Duo model that will accommodate two persons and weighs around 93 lbs (about 42 kg). The Solo uses a standard hinge at the front, while the Duo has an X-hinge design to maximize interior space.
There are several rooftop tents with skylights like the Roofnest’s New Falcon Pro and IO’s TentBox Go, but this series differentiates itself with its entire roof made from transparent acrylic panels. As clarified by the maker on Instagram comments, the final product will feature PPF and ceramic tint for even better durability. This will help minimize scratches and cracks on the stargazing rooftop panel. It can also be covered if you need privacy.

An inflatable hybrid mattress is included with the tent that helps maintain its slim profile while also ensuring comfort for inhabitants. Having a stargazing roof surely has its benefits but there are some cons too. New Atlas correctly points out that the transparent roof will let the sunlight in, which will eventually heat the interior space and can make you uncomfortable in case you are camping in hot climates.
IO debuted the Stargazer rooftop tent series at SEMA 2024, and the tents are now available for preorder on the official website exclusively for U.S. residents.
