Spanish artist Maximo Riera is well-known for using exotic animals as inspiration to create life-sized pieces of high-end furniture. Paying homage to a wide range of living species (including toad, octopus, rhino, elephant, walrus, buffalo, hippo and others), the talented artist has created incredibly realistic Animal Chairs.
The new pieces in the Animal Chair Collection are Buffalo Chair and Walrus Chair. For each artistic chair, Riera has taken nearly 480 hours of production time. Each seating object has been made from a high dense polyurethane, which is as consistent and resilient as solid wood. The structure of each chair internally contains a metallic frame and seat is upholstered in fine leather.

According to Maximo Riera,
This collection gives us an option of admiring what nature is capable of; this is the main reason why from the beginning I wanted to be faithful to the animal’s physique. This series is an homage to these animals and the whole animal kingdom which inhabits our planet, as an attempt to reflect and capture the beauty of nature in each living thing.
In order to achieve the most accurate and finest result, 3D modeling software and cutting edge engineering techniques are used. Every piece is manufactured to order, and takes approximately nine to eleven weeks to produce. For more information and price-on-request, visit the designer’s official website.
