IKEA is continuously adding new air cleaning products to its crew. You may remember the handy FÖRNUFTIG Air Purifier that helps create healthier air and also blends well with the home. Taking another step in a similar direction, the company has launched its first smart air purifier named STARKVIND. The unique thing about it is that it is designed in form of furnishings so as to become a part of the home.
The STARKVIND smart air purifier is suitable for room size up to 20-square-meter. It can be operated through onboard controls or with the IKEA Home smart app (that pairs through the TRÅDFRI hub). The smart air purifier has five different fan speeds and an auto-mode that adjusts the fan speed with the amount of PM2.5 in the air thanks to the built-in air quality sensor.

The STARKVIND air purifier has a 3-filter system that captures big particles such as hair and dust, as well as smaller airborne particles such as PM2.5 particles, dust, and pollen. It also helps absorbs various gaseous pollutants. The makers wanted it to have a modern design that can be adapted to changing lifestyles, plus people can choose based on their needs and preference, said Henrik Telander, Product Owner at IKEA.
The IKEA STARKVIND smart air purifier will be available in two versions, a floor-standalone model and a side table variant. The former will retail for approximately $129 in back and white colors, while the one within the table will set you back $189. These smart air purifiers will be sold through IKEA stores starting October 2021.
