There are a few companies that take sustainability as a priority. Swedish furniture retailer IKEA is taking this environmental issue seriously and its evident again with its newest initiative. The company has introduced a new Buy Back program for its customers, in which they can sell back their used IKEA furniture, which will be retailed by the company to a new home.
IKEA will assess the old furniture’s buy-back value and then give a refund-card to the seller accordingly. The process goes as follows – users first get an estimate for their old furniture through the official website and then take them to the nearby IKEA store, where they will be inspected by an IKEA officer for the final offer.
The Buy Back offer applies only to fully functional furniture pieces and selected used personal household items. There is a wide list of eligible products you can check out on the official website. Currently, it doesn’t include home furnishing accessories, mattresses, electrical appliances, upholstery products, etc.
IKEA is one of the biggest names in the retailer industry that is employing environmentally-friendly practices. This way, the company is giving a second lease of life to used furniture that may otherwise end up in landfills.
