Scandinavian design has always been associated with luxury and high-end materials. But in the 1980s, IKEA thought to change it by creating timeless furniture that was accessible to everyone. The result was the STOCKHOLM collection, celebrated by founder Ingvar Kamprad as the “best of IKEA” when it first launched 40 years ago. Now, the beloved collection is making a comeback. The new STOCKHOLM line comprises 96 thoughtfully crafted pieces that bring the elegance of Scandinavian design to more homes at an affordable price.
The STOCKHOLM collection has evolved over eight distinct editions, and its latest iteration brings a wide array of furniture, textiles, lighting, and home accessories. Featuring clean lines and carefully selected materials, each piece is designed to seamlessly complement any interior style with ease. This new collection is the result of a creative collaboration between three Swedish designers who combined their distinctive design languages to create timeless pieces.
Designer Ola Wihlborg designed a modular sofa to solve the problem of cushions that always need fluffing. The sofa comes with modules that can be used alone or connected together to increase the length as per needs. It comes in four colors, including a deep turquoise velvet.
The second sofa, designed by Nike Karlsson, features a solid pine wood frame paired with soft white cushions. Made using woven fabric, natural latex, and coconut fiber, it explores the concept of foam-free design. Karlsson also created a sliding-door cabinet with a handcrafted rattan fiber front.
Rattan is also used in the backrest of a dining chair, while a lounge chair showcases a sturdy rattan frame topped with a deep, light Bouclé cushion. Furthermore, the collection includes bentwood chairs crafted using a traditional technique where the beech wood is soaked and carefully bent by hand to form soft, rounded arches in the arms and back.

Paulin Machado’s designs draw inspiration from the forest. It features lampshades decorated with leaf and mushroom motifs in color palettes that reflect the changing Scandinavian seasons. Her 100 percent wool rugs, handwoven by master artisans, bring the beauty of nature indoors with birch tree patterns available in green tones, greyscale, and classic black and white. For a cozy touch, her collection also includes Merino wool blankets and pillowcases in bold, multi-colored designs.
The IKEA STOCKHOLM 2025 collection combines solid wood, tactile surfaces, and natural materials like linen, leather, and fibers to create timeless, character-rich pieces. Rich earthy tones contrast with natural wood finishes, while textiles reflect the colors and scenes of the Scandinavian landscape. STOCKHOLM 2025 collection will be available in IKEA stores worldwide and online starting April 10, 2025.
