The fear of Covid-19 has inspired many designers and researchers to create products that help us minimize the transmission of the virus. Automatic and touchless faucets are becoming a prerequisite in public as well as residential contexts; however, voice-controlled faucets are also taking a moment. Case in point is Huayi smart faucet that can be operated via voice commands and installed to turn a regular kitchen tap into a voice-activated faucet.
Huayi Smart Voice Control Faucet is powered by a virtual assistant called Xiaoyi. Just say “Xiaoyi open the hot water” to start a flow of boiling water and “close the tap, please” to stop the flow. You can even command it to provide the exact amount of water required at the desired temperature.
These features are highly practical in cases when you do not want to touch a faucet by hand. For example when you’ve using a public washroom, just arrived back home from the office and do not want to touch around before washing up, or when you have soap leather on your hands; leaving the faucet clean every time after use.
The faucet has an LED ring that serves as an indicator. When the light turns red, the faucet is in an awakened state. It can listen to commands within one minute of the last use. This smart faucet also operates via touch controls which means you can tap the top of the unit to operate the connected faucet.

This system functions like an automatic touchless kitchen faucet adapter that fits an existing ordinary faucet. Xiaomi Today notes that it has been lately crowd-funded on Xiaomi’s platform Youpin and that it is priced at 799 yuan (about $125). For its practicality and design, the Huayi Smart Voice Control Faucet has won the iF Design Award 2022.
