People love Everyday Carry (EDC) items, such as watches, pens, flashlights, key rings, personal care items, multi-tool kits, and even knives. Among these EDCs, knives that are built to carry around for daily use have a separate fanbase. An EDC knife can serve many purposes. It can be used for self-defense in case of emergency, as a camping tool, as an outdoor cooking accessory, and whatnot. Today we are going to tell you about one such EDC knife that scores pretty good on its make, ergonomics, and durability.
HARNDS is a China-based company founded in 2011 that specializes in providing high-quality and innovatively designed folding knives, fixed-blade knives, and multi-tools that are convenient to use. Adding to its list of offerings, the company has come up with the HK2024 Eggplant fixed-blade knife.
The HK2024 Eggplant is engineered with precision and built for camping enthusiasts and professional use. It is elegantly designed, offers a better grip, and is lightweight for you to carry around. There are two editions of this fixed-blade knife. The first one features a D2 steel blade and comes with a G10 sheath. The other variant with an N690 steel blade is offered with a cool carbon fiber sheath.
The design of both variants of these fixed-blade knives is pretty similar. Interestingly, HK2024 Eggplant knives cut down the weight by incorporating decorative holes, a finger hole that makes the knife seem like a fidget toy (though it is not what we suggest you do as you might hurt yourself), and a lanyard hole that allows users to wear it around their neck or as they would prefer. Users can also attach this to their gear or clothes using the clip-on options.
The HK2024 Eggplant knife boasts a full tang construction which means that it is a one-piece design and the steel extends to the handle part as well, boosting its structural integrity. It will not break into two pieces even after extensive use and serve its purpose every single time, without losing its shape and strength.
The design of the handle is such that it provides efficient use for both left and right-handed users. Additionally, the jimping (series of notches) on the upper part contributes to a better grip over the knife.

There are a few things that are similar in both the variants. Both have a plain edge design that serves a variety of cutting needs you would expect from an EDC knife. The length of both editions is also the same. The edge length is around 60mm and the overall length is 136mm.
Here is how they differ. The sheaths are made of different materials. The weight of the D2 knife is 62 grams and the N690 edition stands slightly lighter at 58 grams. The D2 gives great options when it comes to the color of steel blades using surface treatment done in black titanium stonewash, satin, pure black titanium, and stonewash finishes. The other one is available in only a satin finish. In the case of handle colors, both have a variety of options.
All in all, the HK2024 Eggplant knife is a versatile EDC that is robust and stylish. It certainly deserves to be in your hands and would prove a great asset in the great outdoors. Currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter, where you can get the D2 at an early bird price of $40 and the N690 at $80.
