Birdhouses come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and styles; however, finding a perfect one is a tedious task for sure. If you have an obsession for rare or hard-to-find birdhouses, Hexocaster may have some cool options for you. These uniquely shaped, mid-century modern birdhouses are inspired by iconic Googie signs from the early 1960s.
Hexocaster birdhouses are elongated hexagrams that were very popular in the fifties and sixties. This shape is the main inspiration behind these birdhouses. The birdhouses are built in the same way as Luthiers craft music instruments using tonewood with the elegant addition of chrome details.
There are three types of birdhouses – Solid Body Hexocasters with wood and stainless steel construction for exterior use while Semi Solid Body and Sparkletone Hexocasters are for indoor use. The indoor birdhouses are also made from exotic wood and are thoroughly finished to become a piece of art.

We got in touch with Kelli of Hexocaster and here is what she had to tell us about her creation:
1) You use exotic wood; are your birdhouses sustainable?
A.) Yes, the exotic woods used are sourced from Mom&Pop mills all over the world. They are from trees that are being harvested due to age or health reasons, which is why they have such unique swirls and patterns.
2) How do you keep the Luthier inspiration intact in your designs?
A.) My father has been a musician most of my life and his love of guitars lends itself to some incredible sculptures. (his love of classic cars and hot rods come through in the stunning Sparkletone Collection)
3) Weight and measurements?
A.) Hexocasters are 8” across. 5” deep and 12” high.
4) Price of your birdhouses is on the higher side. Who are your potential buyers?
A.) While the exotic Hexocasters indoor art sculptures are priced for collectors, there is a beautiful outdoor option that is built to enjoy the sunshine and priced at $350.
5) The inspiration behind these birdhouses?
A.) Hexocaster is derived from the elongated hexograms that are extremely popular in the googie mid-century road side signs of the 50s and 60s, namely the Azar’s Coffee shop sign.
