Modern Tiny Living (MTL) has built some ‘solid’ dwellings over the years. Some were solid in terms of structure and material composition while others were solid regarding design and space utilization. Upon scouring through MTL’s foundry recently, I came across a mobile home that caters to both of these aspects. Dubbed Hatteras tiny house, the 20-foot mobile home boasts high-quality material in its build, while featuring plenty of storage. We’ll get to these details later but first, let’s discuss the exterior of the tiny home.
The Hatteras tiny house is built on a double-axle trailer. The mobile home features LP Vertical Smart Siding and a steel roof. These materials enhance the home’s durability and contribute to its striking, modern look. A well-integrated exterior utility box allows easy storage for external gear.
To complement the elegant exterior, the tiny home features Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring inside that runs throughout the main living areas, providing a stylish yet practical surface that’s easy to maintain. The interior walls are lined with Poplar Tongue & Groove, bringing a warm, natural element that contrasts beautifully with the sleek, matte black modern hardware.
The tiny house comprises four main areas – a living room (social area), a kitchen, a bathroom, and a loft bedroom. On the storage front, the MTL social area provides a multi-functional space, with four drawers, a single bookcase, and the ability to convert into a bed for extra sleeping arrangements, while the kitchen is accoutered with plenty of shelves and cabinets.
The kitchen of the Hatteras is designed with both beauty and practicality in mind. It features custom ocean blue cabinetry that offers a vibrant pop of color, while the butcher block countertops bring a natural feel to the space. A 31-inch black under-mount sink completes the sleek, minimal design. The kitchen comes pre-equipped with a mini-fridge but does not include an oven, range, or microwave, allowing room for customization to the dwellers.
Facing the kitchen is the storage-integrated staircase. Custom stairs with built-in storage are practical, saving space while maintaining the home’s clean design. The staircase leads to the loft space that sleeps two. As far as overnight guests are concerned, they can sleep in the social area that converts into a makeshift bedroom.
The bathroom is accessed through a stylish custom sliding barn door that adds a rustic charm to the house. Boasting simplicity and efficiency, the bathroom features a fiberglass shower with a glass door that provides a spacious, easy-to-clean solution. A standard flush toilet offers modern convenience while floating shelves provide ample space for toiletries.

On the downside, the Hatteras tiny house does not include a vanity or sink in the bathroom, nor does it come pre-installed with a washer or dryer. The maker has left these options for dwellers to customize as per their needs.
Akin to all other tiny homes, Hatteras runs on a standard RV-style hookup. From a price perspective, Hatteras Tiny House is flexible. The micro-dwelling’s final cost will depend on the choice of appliances, finishes, and customizations dwellers want to incorporate inside.
