Hanging Shelter by Denmark-based Stedse Architects is a unique overnight accommodation floating above the ground just like a treehouse. Combining contemporary design and wood craftsmanship, it offers a nature-filled experience for guests in Genner, Denmark. It will be all about communing with nature for guests but for the architects, it was a chance to explore a new definition of a home.
The Hanging Shelter is a dome-shaped wood and glass structure that allows for an innate connection with nature. Its wooden construction is carried out by Aarøsund Boatbuilding based on traditional shipbuilding techniques.
The main load-bearing structure is built from 8 form-fitting “frames” in oak, with steam-bent rectangular oak moldings as floor and round oak moldings as railings. Furthermore, there are transparent sections all around the structure to maximize the surrounding views.
