I rarely visit LinkedIn to find the latest industry news. Most day-to-day information is either available on peer blogs or reaches my inbox through press collateral. But this Friday morning, devoid of much interesting information to share with my team, I stumbled upon VQ’s three-in-one speaker on my LinkedIn feed.
Coincidently, VQ’s PR agency was promoting the speaker on its social media handle. Upon some scouring, I touched base with the person responsible for the promotions. I was down in the dumps when he told me that the speaker is only available in the UK for now, implying I would not get my hands on it, except for receiving a review unit (which would have to wait). Nevertheless, the speaker piqued my interest and I’m sharing the information available through sources.
I was so invested in the VQ’s 3-in-one speaker because of the similarity it shares with the XBOOM 360 RP4, a lantern-shaped outdoor LG speaker I wrote about a few years back. LG has discontinued the speaker and it’s unavailable on Amazon (at the time of writing). The VQ’s speaker, called Halo, shares a similar lantern-like portable design but offers a lot more through 360-degree sound and its ability to recharge gadgets.
The speaker blasts 22W sound with True Wireless Stereo pairing. When two Halo speakers are paired, they offer 22 watts of 360-degree stereo sound (each). Combined, the 44W output is good enough to turn the ambiance of a patio into a club. The device can connect to other Bluetooth devices and speakers for a more immersive sound.
Akin to LG’s XBOOM 360 RP4, the Halo speaker also features Mood Lighting. The built-in LED Lights features three camping lighting modes: ‘Full Bright’, ‘Reading mode’, and ‘Low Setting’. Though many would hail the most impressive aspect of VQ Halo to be its lighting or audio capabilities, but we have tons of speakers and lighting fixtures that offer the same.
What left me in awe of the speaker was its 7.4v 6000 mAh rechargeable battery, which doubles as a power bank. Compatible with USB A and USB C ports, the lantern-shaped speaker charges smartphones and other gadgets and offers ten hours of playback time.

Design-wise, it features a handle that allows you to carry the speaker like a lantern. It weighs only 1.9 lbs, hence making it highly portable. Available in six colorways: Sapphire Noir, Slate Chic, Crimson Radiance, Natural Elegance, Mint Majesty, and Azure Ambiance, the VQ Halo Bluetooth speaker is up for grabs on Amazon for $91(£70).
