Canadian furniture designer Gus Modern has announced its Fall 2020 collection that comprises vegan furniture, including lounge chairs and couches, which are made from AppleSkin Leather. The material used for manufacturing this innovative and durable vegan-leather furniture is developed with apple peels and cores.
With this animal-skin alternative, the company has proven that even plant-based materials can be equally strong and luxurious to make stylish furniture pieces. According to Gus Modern, AppleSkin leather has been trademarked and provides an exciting new option for consumers and retailers looking for a quality alternative to traditional leather.
Manufactured by upcycling discarded fruit fiber into a durable covering that features the classic appearance of natural leather, this eco-friendly upholstery material is a standout addition to the brand’s eco-friendly product assortment.
On the product launch, Anthony Santino, Vice President of Sales at Gus* Design Group informed,
This new bio-based material saves apple peels and cores from going to landfills and is a harmonious addition to our other eco-friendly options [such as] Forest Stewardship Council-certified wood and cushion fill made from recycled plastic bottles.
Gus Modern showcases this new furniture collection in two colors – licorice and cognac – at their Toronto corporate showroom. The furniture company is also selling its new collection through 150 different retailers in Asia, Australia, North America, and South America.
