Meet Christopher Mckinnon who has built this coolest cabin on a truck bed. Custom sauna builder by profession, he has built this tiny space for himself as part of his pet project, but now he is looking to sell it to fund his long travels. While the cabin blends comfort with quality, its lack of a bathroom and toilet may disappoint some. But considering the total floor area, the cabin is extremely cozy inside with a mini wood stove and functional living areas so you are not missing out on any comfort.
The cabin based on a 1990 F350 Ford truck is decked with huge windows and a door for a humble look. Mckinnon has used deck and sealant paint for the exterior which he believes to be super durable to protect the cabin from rain and other elements. There is a tiny overhang as well, lending a stark appearance to the cabin.
Inside, there is a sizeable floor space and a few panoramic windows with beautiful views of the outdoors. The rug on the floor ties the space well and imparts much-needed warmth. When privacy is required, simply roll down velcro blinds to cover these windows. To keep things fuzzier, Mckinnon has insulted the Truck Cabin throughout and installed a mini wood stove to heat the space and enhance the ambiance.
He has built storage-integrated benches by the window, where he keeps firewood and other stuff. However, this space is multipurpose and doubles as a bench too, where one can sit and work when needed. He also plans on turning the space more comfortable in the future by upholstering the benches with cushions.
Across the bench, there are some tools on the wall like wood-chopping axes that can come in handy when out in the wild. Next up is a cabinet that houses solar electrical management, inverter, batteries, and charge controller. Mckinnon has installed hooks on the ceiling to dry his clothes by tying the rope from one end to another. His guitars get their designated space on the ceiling.
In the kitchen is a down propane cooktop, burner, and grill top, along with some knives and spatulas in a cabinet below the cooktop. He has a collapsible sink and some pots for cooking and eating. Mckinnon has a swivel faucet with running water above the cooktop and the water pump just right above in a little cabinet. There is also a 30-gallon freshwater tank underneath the truck.
This unit has enough countertop space to prep meals and a trash can below the countertop. Not only this, there is a refrigerator tucked inside a storage box that doubles as a step to access the bed, and just adjacent is an extra space to store the camp chair and other outdoor stuff. For eating, the collapsible table is a clever addition.

Christopher Mckinnon keeps addressing questions regarding the bathroom. Well, for the time being, he has a collapsible toilet that works fine for him, as he doesn’t live in this cabin permanently. And if he needs to take a shower while on the road, then there are plenty of public showers waiting to be used.
He has built a tiny bookshelf in there too, which is a useful space to keep other essential stuff. His bed is full-size and offers a lovely space to sleep and relax. There are panoramic windows to keep the bedroom bright throughout the day. Step into the world of functionality, innovative design, and minimalism with this exceptional custom Truck Cabin.
