Ford has garnered a lot of attention in the campervan market with its Nugget range. The camper has been launched in different models including the latest new long-wheelbase variant. The extra length results in a larger kitchen, increased storage space, and a built-in toilet that is missing even in popular campervans like Volkswagen California.
The new longer-wheelbase Transit Custom Nugget is available in Titanium and Active variants, with options for different powertrains including PHEV and all-wheel drive. All of them come with a PHEV powertrain that combines a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine with an 11.8 kWh battery and an electric motor that produces 233 PS, like the Ford Kuga Plug-In Hybrid.
This camper is designed for longer journeys with a more spacious multi-zone interior layout. There are separate zones for cooking, living and sleeping inside. This unique interior design allows the campers to move around the cabin, cook, or get in and out of the vehicle without disturbing someone sleeping on the rooftop tent.
The new camper has a larger kitchen area with more worktop space for food preparation, a drawer fridge and storage space for pots and pans. On the other side of the living area, the storage capacity has been expanded with a larger built-in cupboard that helps keep the space tidy.
Now, the camper has wider beds with the option for lower bunk heating while the dining lounge also converts into a double bed. Ford is also offering a longer wheelbase model that includes a built-in toilet.

Transit Custom Nugget also features heated swivel front seats for ultimate comfort on journeys. Additionally, the multifunctional Smart Camper Touchscreen system is equipped with a tilt sensor that helps while parking the vehicle on uneven ground.
The new variant was showcased at the 2024 Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany. That said, Ford has not revealed any details about the price or availability yet.
