Mono chair is an award-wining seat designed by Philip Kronqvist for Finnish company Hamari that specializes in auditorium furniture. The chair features a very unique foldable design that makes it suitable for auditoriums, cinema halls and any other place that requires space-savvy furniture.
Mono chair appears as a rectangular case. In the folded position, it is a 12cm deep case featuring a sculptural shape. It makes use of a custom-created lever mechanism that lifts the seat and armrests up with a single-hand motion. The chair’s design focuses on avoiding the unnecessary and making use of the essential.
Furthermore, the seat is spring-loaded and returns to the casing simultaneously with the backrest and armrests. This way, it can be stored away easily without taking much space. The chair allows for the efficient use of space, which is an important factor in modern times where space comes at a premium.
