French company Elipson known for its high-end speakers has launched a new version of the popular spherical Planet L speaker that is more powerful than any of its previous iterations. Named Planet L Performance, the new model is designed to deliver a more significant sound range at extreme frequencies. The midrange is richer, the bass is tighter, and the dynamics are improved to meet the needs of different audiophiles.
With updated technical components, the overall output of the Performance version has been increased from 60W RMS to 100W RMS. The coaxial driver now offers a more linear frequency response and even high-frequency diffusion with reduced distortion. It comprises a 165 mm (6.5 inches) low-midrange driver with a cellulose pulp membrane and a damping treatment that nearly doubles the power handling capacity. A 25 mm (approx. 1 inch) treated silk dome tweeter is optimized by a Neodymium magnet with a horn boot for linear extension of high frequencies.
With (Double Asymmetric Rubber) technology, the driver’s peripheral suspension offers precise control, even at high volume. The bass-reflex tuning frequency is set at 50 Hz to match the speaker’s resonance. The crossover, just like the Planet L Gold Edition, incorporates MKP polypropylene capacitors, MKT polyester capacitors, low-resistance inductors, and 2.25 square mm OFC internal wiring to ensure optimal frequency separation and pure sound reproduction.
