CES 2025 is around the corner and we expect an array of new devices and disruptive innovations that will redefine the consumer technology industry in the coming year. Among them is Figo, an innovative appliance that will refrigerate and cook your food. Figo employs ‘sous vide’-a method of cooking food, especially meat or fish, by vacuum-sealing and immersing it in warm water. This technique involves cooking food in a vacuum-sealed bag at a precisely controlled temperature, allowing it to retain its natural flavors and nutrients.
Designed and manufactured by a company called EatFigo, the innovative cooking and refrigerating device has come to the manufacturing stage five years after its inception as an idea and a basic prototype. It was in 2020 when EatFigo launched its crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo and touted to prepare meals ranging from meat to veggies.
Nearly five years later, the company will be showcasing the product at the most powerful tech event in the world. A glimpse at the design shows the appliance features a built-in vacuum sealer to season your food. Figo also features two compartments, one is the cooking chamber and the other is a removable water tank. “Figo can cool its compartments to below 39°F in under an hour, ensuring that ingredients remain fresh and safe,” claim the makers.
From a cooking standpoint, there are three simple steps involved. These include vacuum sealing the food, putting it in the cooking chamber, and filling the external water station. Next, all you are required to do is schedule your meal via the Figo Smartphone app.

When the programmed cooking time arrives, water moves into the cooking chamber from the external tank and heats the food evenly, courtesy of a propeller circulator. “It uses temperature sensors to cook at the temperature you set, plus or minus 1 degree F,” EatFigo points out. At the end of the cooking cycle, the water is pumped back out of the cooking chamber to preserve food texture and prevent mushiness. If needed, the meal is then chilled again to preserve it until you get back.
It’s not clear if EatFigo has made any changes to the appliance on the design or tech front (from prototype to production stage), and more details will be clear after the product is exhibited at CES 2025.
