British appliance company Dyson has recently teased a YouTube video showcasing a mysterious device which could, probably, be an autonomous vacuum cleaner codenamed N223. In the video you can see a lab from the perspective of a particularly wide-angle lens, there is also a device rolling on the floor at one point of the video and is assumed to be the firm’s latest robotic vacuum cleaner.
The video, however, doesn’t shed much light on the ongoing project, but a glimpse of an electronic device like Roomba robot is briefly shown for about 6 seconds in the clipping. There are also occasional snippets of computer-generated mapping in the video, which could be the sequence plotting of a vacuuming route around a room. However, the firm has kept the project a secret that will be revealed on 4th September, 2014.
According to the company’s analysis, it has been spending a lot on robotics for past few years. Back in February, it was reported that about £5 million (approx. US $8 million) were invested by Dyson into robotic vision research with the help of experts from Imperial College London. Prior to this investment Dyson had spent about 16 years in researching and studying about best vacuum technologies so that they can make the best vacuum cleaner for the consumers.
But, to know what the device actually is, we have to wait for three more days and hopefully it is something beneficial and advance in approach for 21st century consumers.
