For multidisciplinary Italian designer Monica Armani, “Curiosity is the main engine.” Born in the rich architectural and cultural heritage of Italy, Armani has a keen eye for detail and exploring new ideas. This year she designed a furniture collection for Valencia-based manufacturer Punt, formerly known as Punt Mobles, which is a testament to her design style, often inspired by nature. The Dune Collection by Monica Armani has an organic elegance akin to the namesake desert landscapes with its ebb and flow of golden sand.
The furniture collection embraces the bold curved and ribbon-like bends of desert to reflect a simple refinement and beauty of nature. It includes a lineup of sideboards, coffee tables, and armchairs. The soft curves of the series adhere to the fan-favorite design trend of the decade i.e. furniture with rounded edges.
The Dune sideboard, however, becomes the protagonist of the lot due to its combination of solid shapes of the base and modules. It features doors, drawer fronts, and side panels in natural oak veneered plywood with curved edges. The top and interior of the furniture piece are made in MDF board with low formaldehyde content. The upper part is textured lacquered in copper, forest green, or black. The base is made of veneered plywood board with plaint MDF panel is also textured and clad in green and copper color options.
But it’s not the textured material quality that makes it a treat. Although visually appealing, the sideboard has multiple applications making it a coveted piece. It can be used as a worktable at the office, a valuable addition to the kitchen, a silent observer in the living room, or just a simple sideboard.
The Dune armchair is a sophisticated piece of furniture without any fuss. It has a sturdy curved plywood board with natural oak veneer for backrest, and swivel base in the same material as the sideboard base.

The set of low-lying coffee tables is designed to serve various residential and commercial spaces. The textured cylindrical bases of the tables echo the rising and falling curves of sand dunes, while the tabletops are created in different lengths to provide versatility. The bases are clad in the same black, green, and copper palette as the rest of the collection to symbolize the barren landscape.
Armani wanted a fusion of freshness and sophistication for this collection, which certainly materializes in the final product. These versatile furniture pieces from the Dune Collection are apt to add a touch of modern elegance in homes, offices, and hospitality areas alike.
