Concrete, concrete, concrete! I am back with another DIY Concrete Bowl Planter, again, using plastic bowls. I had a bunch of succulents climbing on top of each other and needed a slightly bigger planter for them. So, I bought 1 kg quick-dry cement and got to work. It might seem ostentatious when I say that this DIY is affordable, easy, and aesthetic but it truly is. Let me walk you through it so you can decide whether this concrete planter craft is worth your time. Shall we?
Materials Needed:
- Quick dry Concrete
- One big plastic bowl and one small plastic bowl
- Big Bunch of Succulents or whatever you’re planting
- Heap of pebbles or small stones
- Protective gloves

Don the protective gloves and start by mixing the quick-dry concrete with water in a big cup. The consistency should be similar to that of pancake batter or a bit runny. Mix until there are no lumps.
Pour the mixture into a big plastic bowl till it is half full. Then squish the concrete mixture with the smaller plastic bowl while keeping it in the center. Dump pebbles to weigh down the smaller bowl to create enough pressure allowing the concrete to form a deep vessel and not float back up.
Now, fill the bigger bowl through the sides to the brim. Set it aside for 3-4 hours. We won’t wait for it to completely dry.
After about three hours, take the bowls out and run a small screwdriver in the middle of the vessel’s base to make a drainage hole.
Let it dry completely for about a day. Once dried, add a couple of pebbles over the drain hole and fill it with soil.
Add plants as you would like and create a bit of drama to achieve a landscape of greens and stones.
And that is it! Wasn’t it easy? Let me know what you think of this quick DIY concrete bowl planter in the comment section below.
